What is Juntos?Juntos (meaning “together” in Spanish) works to empowers families around education. Uniting with community partners to provide culturally relevant programming for 8-12th grade students and their parents, Juntos is designed to provide families with knowledge, skills, and resources to prevent youth from dropping out of high school, and to encourage families to work together to gain access to college. Juntos started in 2007 at North Carolina State University (NCSU). In 2012 Oregon State University brought the program to Oregon communities and Latino families to come together as a support group especially designed to motivate students to continue their education after graduating from High School.

2017 Family DayAs part of my PROMISE internship with Open Campus, I have had the opportunity to work with the Juntos Program. One of the larger projects I have been collaborating with, is to develop the 2017 Family Day with. Family Day is a time for Juntos families to visit the Oregon State University campus and learn about the different resources OSU has to offer. The event will be a time for families to engage and learn more about college readiness, while celebrating with Juntos families in other regions. Our main goal is to better prepare families for post secondary education and to unite with one another, because we are all Juntos!
